BIG UPDATE (V3)


The third version of Flak Arcana is now available, there is still plenty to be playtested for future balancing, but the game is now a lot more in depth, be it the core rules or the choices you can make.

Basically everything was updated, but more or less its the same core concepts and gameplay loop. No foundational changes. Mostly for better flow and skill ceiling potential. Units are more impactful, employers more complex and flavorful, and all new optional content to play with.
PATCH NOTES:

Game Changes –Bonus Action system replaced with Tactical Points system, a spendable currency in game.

-Alignment combat modifiers re-worded to be straightforward +1 or -1. -”Stacking” cap limit added (+/-1 cap on attack/defense bonuses). -Elevation rule added, counts as cover.

-Dash actions added. -Desengagement is now rolled on a singular D6. And includes dash actions.

-Controlling or contesting objectives now requires to be fully within range. -Cover system changed, more straightforward. -Lucky hits replaced with Lucky Rolls, affects both attacks and defense rolls. Unit Replacements, removals and additions -Service Hound reworked into “Hound” (different stats, no ability)

-Zealot removed from main roster, added to Archive. (redundant with fighter and Hound)

-Added “Rocketeer” a flexible flying unit which can damage with a movement ability.

Magic Alignment

-Ammomancer Magic Alignment reduced to 1.

-Chronomancer Magic Alignment reduced to 2.

-Familiar Magic Alignment reduced to 1.

-Golem Magic Alignment reduced to 2.

-Paragon Magic Alignment reduced to 1.

-Pyromancer Magic Alignment reduced to 2.

-Shademaster changed to neutral alignment.

Tech Alignment

-Automaton Tech Alignment reduced to 2.

-Flamer Tech Alignment reduced to 1.

-Gunner Tech Alignment reduced to 1.

-Mecha-Pilot Tech Alignment reduced to 2.

-Radioman Tech Alignment reduced to 2.

Unit Adjustments

-Aeromancer ranged damage buffed to 2. -Automaton Ranged damage buffed to 3. -Aviator Flying Weapon damage buffed to 3 Diving Bash damage changed to 2. -Battle Bloon movement nerfed to 3. -Berserk weapon and ability reworked. -Bombadier health buffed to 6. -Chronomancer Ability reworked, budget nerfed to 3 and ranged damage buffed to 3. -Cleric Blessed ranged attack nerfed to D3. -Fighter damage nerfed to 2. -Flamer ability reworked, health improved to 6.

-Gravitomancer Ability reworked, arcane sling range changed to 8” and defense changed to 3. -Golem damage buffed. -Gunner ability buffed. -Marksman ranged damage buffed to 3. -Marksmen Ability nerfed and defense changed to 2. -Mechanist Ability check nerfed to 5, defense increased to 3. -Officer damage buffed. -Outrider ability nerfed, damage buffed. -Paragon ability reworked.

-Pyromancer defense buffed. -Radioman Ability slightly reworked. -Scout ability reworked.

-Sentry attack roll changed to 2D3

New Employer: 

Eyes of Zon: An employer focused on creating a killing zone thats generates a special currency, which can be spent on mutating your units mid-game.

Employer Adjustments:

Nearly all employers have been adjusted. But each has maintained its thematic identity. Here are standouts:

- Ankhanate reworked, Champion deals more melee damage, but causes VP loss when eliminated, and can be then replaced.

-Brotherband Reworked so riflemen can make combined additional ranged attacks.

-Bullet Coven reworked, new optional magic weapons and buff to tech unit ranged weapons.

-Carnival Caravan reworked, special members can gain TP.

-Gobpanzers are reworked to make some units into tough gobpanzers that can be aided by magic units, but specific units have a chance of damaging themselves.

-Grimmscythe now has universal revival, but it becomes more likely when near the necromancer and revived units come back with half health remaining.

-Ironwheel reworked, now they have a special currency.

-Killmoore reworked, quarry options more flexible, wanted alive condition changed and now earn a limited amount of vp from non quarry eliminations.

-Lady Ophaire’s reworked to make seduction more likely, and loss of seduction is a trade off.

-Lurian Society reworked, now they have a special currency.

-Maiden Corps reworked, split the domain buff into two alternative buffs per round, units cant use tp outside of domain.

-Red Flag reworked, new Boom Point system that affects explosions.
